The heart and soul of the next generation of Christ followers watch the current generation for instruction, encouragement and empowerment. At ManCamp 2019, there was evidence that the current generation is up to the task, and the next generation is taking it all in. Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors and their sons, grandsons, nephews and mentees engaged in a weekend of intentional time together. Challenging messages from Rayden Hollis accompanied by music from worship leader Bo Warren paired to conduct the men and boys into the presence of the Father. Times of discussion and of prayer permeated the Worship Center as those who were gathered took the time to speak to each other; and more importantly, to listen to each other. Fathers prayed for sons, and sons prayed for fathers.
Of course, there was plenty of great food (the BBQ pork was outstanding again); there was basketball and bean bag toss; there was fishing; and there was the Highland Games— a series of events that helped to unlock a code, leading to a vow of integrity. It was all a perfect storm…because this year there was no storm!
But most of all, there was the always awe-inspiring presence of the Father among His sons.
Make plans now to be a part of this event next year, when the theme will be “Forged in Fire.” See you there!
