When will we get back to normal? Children’s ministers, whether paid or volunteer, have spent many hours praying that they would be able to have VBS, that they would have enough volunteers to have children’s small groups or AWANA, wondering if the kids would even show up if they had the volunteers. Why do we pray so fervently for normalcy? Because we want kids to hear that Jesus loves them and will always be there for them. We want to see the look on a child’s face when they understand salvation for the first time and believe that Jesus is a friend that will never leave them. We want to be a part of kids making decisions at VBS and Camp, see them baptized and choose to follow Christ.

At SCBI we are praying that we will be able to be a part of your kid’s ministry getting back to “normal.” There is a team of volunteers preparing to get trained so that they can train the churches of Indiana in VBS. Church VBS leaders will have the opportunity to be trained at the State VBS training at Hope Community Church in Brownsburg on March 6 from 1-4 pm. There will be online VBS training available for those who are unable to participate in person.

I am so happy to be able to say that camp will happen this summer! We will be working within Covid restrictions and because of this, all camps will be limited to 125 campers. If Covid causes us to cancel you will be refunded for anything you have paid for camp.

JAM (Jesus, Arts, and Music) Camp for kids 3rd-6th grade and Super JAM for students 7th-12th grade will be June 8-12. This is a worship arts camp where students can take classes like guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, drama, praise dance and other worship arts classes. At JAM students draw closer to Jesus and find others who enjoy the arts and a sense of community.

Mission Adventure Camp (MAC) will be June 21-25. At MAC kids in 3rd-6th grade will attend worship services, play crazy games, spend time in the lake and pool and choose from fun classes. They even get to learn from a missionary who is currently serving internationally.

As we look toward 2021 let’s pray together for the students in our churches who need to experience Jesus and pray for the volunteers who need to remember the calling that has been placed on their lives.
