Butch Porter began his new role as Indiana’s part-time Disaster Relief Director on September 1. He comes to us after retiring from doing the same work, in a full-time role, with the Illinois Baptist State Association.
Disaster Relief is a boots-on-the-ground ministry that helps communities and people after devastating storms. But it’s more than just physically helping others, it’s offering hope and showing the love of Christ to those who are dealing with very stressful situations.
“People know how effective Disaster Relief ministry is. People involved in Disaster Relief know who Butch Porter is. So, SCBI churches are blessed to have Butch serving on our staff in this capacity as we accelerate our DR efforts. This staff addition is one of the ways we are reaffirming our commitment to Disaster Relief ministry. Get involved to bring help, healing, and hope to those in need,” said Dr. Ryan Strother, SCBI’s Executive Director.
Butch will serve as part of the Leader Empowerment Mobilization Team – SCBI’s newest team that began with the hiring of Scooter Kellum this past summer. Be on the lookout for more information from Butch about how to get involved with Disaster Relief as he works to take Indiana’s team to the next level!
