SCBI recently launched a new initiative designed to connect with the churches in the state to help them take the next ministry step. As one of the Connectors for the Crossroads Association, I have the privilege of spending time with pastors and learning about their ministries. Every ministry is unique, but some stand apart from the rest of the pack, like Restore Church.
Restore Church is part of the Send Network of church plants in the Indianapolis area; although they own the old Beech Grove First Baptist Church, they are not your typical congregation. Instead of the traditional Sunday morning gathering, they meet in homes in the community in micro churches. These obedience-based Bible study groups initially consist of believers trained by Yashua Society, a ministry begun by Send Network planter Mo Wildey that serves as the parent ministry of Restore Church. Once they go through the training process, the believers launch a Discovery Bible Study group in a neighborhood and invite non-believers into the group. When there is a conversion, the group becomes known as a micro church with the mission of worshipping, fellowshipping, and reaching more people in the community for Christ. Restore Church is focusing this summer on launching three Discovery Bible Study groups in the Indianapolis area.
Restore Church is not only building a micro church web, but they have created a transitional home for men coming out of alcohol and drug addictions. They converted the educational wing of the old Beech Grove church into a men’s dormitory. While at the facility, the men go through an approximately one-year curriculum to learn about a relationship with Christ, how Jesus breaks strongholds and addictions, and how to reenter society. The ultimate goal is for the men to become not only followers of Jesus Christ but also become trained to become part of a Discovery Bible Study group to which they can invite their unsaved friends.
If God has laid it on your heart to reach people through ministry evangelism using small groups or outreach to specific groups, investigate the ministry of Restore Church. To learn more about this unique, biblical ministry, go to https://www.restorechurchnetwork.com/
