The Joy of Serving

By Tracy Stewart

Recently, I was invited to participate in the State Convention of Baptist in Indiana (SCBI) Women’s Transformed Event. The topic of my breakout was “The Imposter. Finding your worth in Christ.”

My mind could have chosen so many paths to go through for the topic, however, I was led to show who I am in Christ. To share who I really am and how I was renewed walking through a dark place.

Scripture can be a never-ending, winding road for me, and I love to spend hours researching and writing my thoughts of My Personal Savior, Jesus Christ. I shared this with the ladies in attendance at my breakout.

I wanted to share my afterthoughts and let you know the humorous side of My Lord, since the retreat.

Last weekend, I walked into my office and there was a wall hanging, which was going to be replaced facing the cabinet. I had set it there probably two months ago without even giving it a second glance and forgot about it.

As I’m in the cleaning phase of my life; spring is here! I picked up the wall hanging and turned it over to read it and laughed out loud because it said, “Be Strong and Courageous” Deuteronomy 31:6.  What it didn’t say was the complete verse, “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.” (NASB)

The ladies in my breakout know I had used, “The Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6b (NASB) in my breakout. So, imagine all the time researching, pondering and writing notes for my breakout when the Lord had put the actual verse in my hands, and I missed it.  Truly makes me giggle, even now.

The mightiness of God is immeasurable, and I am silenced by the privilege that God would use the dark walks of sorrow he has led me through, to bring a light, through him, to other women for his glory!

To all attendees at SCBI Women’s Transformed Event, thank you sincerely, for all the fun, laughter and learning during the event. My favorite part was worshipping and serving Jesus!

To those who were unable to attend the event this year, I look forward to seeing you at the SCBI Women’s Retreat next year!
