At the beginning of April, while most of the country was looking to the skies at the solar eclipse, women from at least 5 different Indiana churches traveled to Alpharetta, Georgia for the first ever National Women’s Evangelism Conference sponsored by the North American Mission Board.

“It was a powerful two days at the Women’s Evangelism Conference with over 300 women from across 28 states and Canada! These ladies were encouraged in their calling and equipped with practical resources to make Jesus known as they go about life in their ministry context. They ended their time together by praying for people in their lives far from God and for a burden for the lost in their community!” -NAMB Evangelism

Sherry Finley from New Day Baptist Church attended with women from her church and was deeply impacted. This is her testimony:

“My Pastor’s wife asked if I would be interested in going to the NAMB Women’s Evangelism Conference and while I admit I was just a little intimidated and not sure at the thought of evangelism, I was also intrigued (The Holy Spirt nudged me!). She said it would be a whirlwind trip and she wasn’t kidding!

Everything about the conference exceeded my expectations. From the speakers to the worship and the round table discussions. I believe everything and everyone was put in the right place at the right time. I remember thinking that I was not going to remember all the information or directions about how to share the gospel with others.

In Acts 1:6-8 the apostles were asking Jesus if His time had come to free Israel and He told them “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, they are not for you to know, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witness, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”.

Looking back now, I see that creating a culture of evangelism is exactly what this NAMB conference did for me. I was able to examine and embrace where I was spiritually and then engage and encourage those around me. Meanwhile, I was embraced and encouraged by other women throughout the conference. There were so many wonderful situations and conversations that in no way can I say that I guided or planned them, but that they were divine interventions, and the Holy Spirit was all over it.”

The NAMB Women’s Evangelism team members have created resources specifically for women to train them in confidence in sharing the gospel. To view the available resources read the article “2024 Women’s Missions Resources” in this publication.
