What a true blessing it is for me to introduce myself as the new president of the Baptist Foundation of Indiana (BFI)! I began serving in this role at the start of the year, and as I look back over the first half of 2024, I am grateful to God for the opportunity and blessing to work alongside Indiana Baptists who have a passion for serving Jesus and sharing His love with others.

The Lord has been faithful to me since the day I trusted Him and committed my life to Him as a young child. I first sensed God’s call on my life to preach the Good News at the age of 16, and that calling has guided me throughout my entire life. Whether pastoring churches in Indiana and California or serving and leading various nonprofit organizations that champion the church and the sanctity of life, I have witnessed God’s continued faithfulness throughout my ministry and in my personal life. Like many others who faithfully shepherd Indiana Baptists, I have the honor of being a multi-vocational pastor, both leading BFI and serving as lead pastor for Geist Chapel in Indianapolis.

BFI has a nearly 60-year history of helping Hoosiers spread the Gospel by strengthening ministries across Indiana. That treasured legacy is one in which I and my colleagues at the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana hold near and dear to our hearts.

BFI has partnered with WatersEdge for almost 20 years now, and we share a mission of financially empowering donors and ministries to transform lives with the Gospel. Through various financial services and giving solutions — including competitive church loans, ministry accounting and payroll services, biblically grounded investments, and creative giving solutions — BFI and WatersEdge are enabling ministries and individuals alike to make life-changing Kingdom impact both here and abroad, both now and for eternity.

One great example of that impact is the $253,000 in scholarships BFI has awarded and administered to 656 applicants over the last 40-plus years. The funds are available to assist in college tuition costs for members of SCBI churches who are called to and preparing for vocational ministry.

From June 9-12, thousands of Southern Baptists from across the nation will arrive in Indianapolis for the 2024 Pastors’ Conference and Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting. What an incredible opportunity for our brothers and sisters from SBC churches in Indiana, and across the U.S., to come together as one as we continue to faithfully serve a good, loving, and gracious God.

If you will be in Indianapolis for the SBC annual meeting, I would love to connect with you at either the SCBI booth or the WatersEdge booth in the main exhibit hall. I look forward to continuing our laboring together as God’s fellow workers and serving you as the president of the Baptist Foundation of Indiana
